Toyota GR Supra Gets A V8 To Battle Mustangs And Camaros In Aussie Supercars
Toyota will enter the Supercars Championship in Australia with a race-prepped GR Supra. The modified GR Supra will feature a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine from Lexus. Walkinshaw Andretti United will race the Supra against Ford Mustangs and Chevy Camaros.
Toyota Plans to Race a V-8 Supra in Australia's Supercars Championship in 2026
On Tuesday, Toyota announced plans to race in Australia's Supercars Championship, the series formerly known as V8 Supercars. Don't let the name change fool you, however: the Supra-based race car will drop its inline-6 for a V-8, and thus should give Toyota a shot to win Australia's most famous auto race, the Bathurst 1000.
Toyota to Enter 2026 Supercars Championship with Four V8-Powered GR Supras
Four GEN3 GR Supras will be part of the 2026 grid, with two cars run by Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU). Supercars stars Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood will also represent Toyota on the track. Toyota’s partnership with WAU underscores its commitment to entering Supercars with the best possible team.
