In this fall’s general election, Connecticut voters will decide on an amendment to the state constitution that would pave the way for any eligible voter to vote via absentee ballot. Currently, the state constitution lays out specific requirements that voters must meet in order to be deemed eligible for an absentee ballot.
Two towns in particular, New Milford and Ledyard, have supported the eventual winner in all seven of the most recent elections dating back to 1996. (Interestingly, both towns broke their streak in the same year, 1992, when their voters supported the Republican President George H.W. Bush over the winner, Democrat Bill Clinton).
