Bengaluru: Karnataka Milk Federation has installed geo-positioning system on its vehicles that supply ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the Tirupati temple, following a row over substandard ‘ghee’ used in Tirupati laddus, a top official said on Saturday.

In light of allegations regarding adulterated ghee mixed with animal fat used in the preparation of Tirupati laddus, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has been awarded fresh orders to supply ghee for the iconic sweets.

Amid growing outrage over allegations of animal fat being used in the famed Tirupati laddoos, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), which produces Nandini ghee, has addressed the controversy surrounding its contract with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Amid the massive row over the laddoos offered as prasad at Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati Temple, the Karnataka government has ordered all the temples in the state to use only home-grown Nandini ghee to make prasad.

The Tirupati Laddu prasadam, offered at the famous Sri Venkateswara temple, is managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). KMF clarified that the TTD board had not purchased ghee from them in the last four years. They stated that they only began supplying ghee for the laddus after the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) came to power.
